AutoCad® DXF format -- Version 3.0 READ THIS TEXT BEFORE Meto-Fer® has chosen PKZIP to compress our AutoCad files for distribution. We have been licensed by PKWARE, Inc, 9025 North Deerwood Drive, Brown Deer, WI 53223 to include their decompression sofware with these files. We are licensed to distribute our Cad files which were compressed with this program to our distributors and customers. We encourage all of our distributors to distribute the Meto-Fer AutoCad files to any of their customers who may need them. Before you begin, we strongly recommend that you read your workstation or computer operator's manual to become thoroughly familiar with setting up directories and manipulating files from one directory to another. Please, make backup copies to use and store the originals in a safe place. We also recommend that you "write protect" the original disks and copies that you make to prevent accidental damage or virus infection while they are being copied by other people. Standard DOS copy commands can be used to copy these files. Meto-Fer has made a strong effort to make these drawings accurate and error free, but we cannot assume responsibility for dimensional errors or data errors on these disks. As new products become available or design changes are made to these products, Meto-Fer will make the necessary revisions to these files and send them to our distributors; but it is the distributor's responsibility to make them available to his customers. The Meto-Fer® AutoCad library is a set of computer drawing files made with AutoCad, Revision 10, software from Autodesk, 2320 Marinship Way, Sausalito, CA 94965. The drawings contained on these disks are the automation components, mounting brackets, and supports listed in the current Meto-Fer Automation Catalogue. These drawings are stored under their corresponding part number where possible except when the number is longer than 8 digits. In this case, a new drawing number is assigned by Meto-Fer. We have grouped the parts by related part numbers and compressed that group into a single file to about 25% of its original size. For example, all "KZP" grippers are under the file "KZP.EXE". If you want to use our "KZP" grippers, you would do the following: A. Download the file "KZP.EXE" to the directory that you have chosen on your hard drive. B. Go to that directory on the hard drive and type "KZP" then press "enter". C. You will see the process on your monitor as the computer decompresses the files and writes them to your hard drive. D. You can then delete the "KZP.EXE" file from your hard drive. E. It is important to review the data sheet that shows the file space required. You must add the file space for the "KZP.EXE" file to the space required for the decompressed files to determine the total space needed. Six views are shown for each component. The entire drawing is blocked and each view is blocked separately to help in moving the views individually around the drawing. Views that are not needed can easily be erased as a block. "X" shaped NODES have been placed on all mounting hole locations to allow "snap functions" to be used for moving views accurately into position with their mating parts. The NODES can be removed if desired by using AutoCad's "setvar" commands. All drawings have been created in colors and layers for clarity and ease of component part identity. Components, such as slides and grippers, that have moveable parts have been drawn in different colors and blocked three times. The slide portion and the base portion have been blocked individually, allowing you to move the slide portion with respect to the base to a position of your choice. The gripper body is blocked separately from the fingers. The fingers are drawn in both open and closed positions on two different layers. This allows you to turn off one or the other when not needed, helping in finger tooling design.
